Menkes , Professor and Chairman of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The City College of New York , in New York City , and of Dr . Jeffrey Huston , Professor of Engineering with a background in vehicle dynamics on the faculty of the College of Engineering of Iowa State University in Ames , Iowa . This
testimony was used to explain the engineering dynamics that are

the movement and operation of these 3 - wheeled
vehicles .

At the conclusion of a three week trial , the jury found in favor of John and Terri McKinley . The jury agreed that this product , as designed , was inherently dangerous . That jury rendered a verdict in favor of the McKinleys for 2 . 6 Million Dollars . The case was settled after Honda ' s Motion for New Trial was Overruled and while its Appeal was pending .
