Mr . BARNARD . Mr . Glynn , as I understand this is a sample of a catalog advertisement ?

Mr . GLYNN . Yes , it is . That is the 70 brochure , the 1980 . That was the one that I told you that we destroyed everything we had .

Mr . BARNARD . You destroyed this one ?

Mr . GLYNN . Well , the one you have in your hand , we certainly did not . But all that we had in stock , we had started to ship , we had a problem with it , so we pulled that , and that is part of that same advertising . So the new ones are not like that . All that we reprinted are not like that .

Mr . BARNARD . Well , the reason that this one caught my fancy is that there was nothing said here as to the fact that parents should maintain close supervision of their children in riding these ATV ' s . And I was wondering does your new brochure by any chance say that we strongly recommend or it is important that parents main tain close supervision of their children riding ATV ' s ?

Mr . GLYNN . I can ' t respond because I don ' t know for certain that it is in the brochure .

Mr . BARNARD . It is not in this one .

Mr . GLYNN . It is in the Owner ' s Manual and it is on the vehicle , but I am not sure if it is in the brochure .

Mr . BARNARD . Why wouldn ' t a light on an ATC - 70 be regular equipment ?

Mr . GLYNN . Well , we think generally that a 70 isn ' t used as the other models are where families would go long distances into the desert or travel a great deal , you know , or a long way away from their campsite , so that should it become dark they would have to come back . Second , an ATV - 70 is not used for agricultural use . And third , it is very difficult to supervise your youngster in the dark .

Mr . BARNARD . Do what ?

Mr . GLYNN . It is very difficult to supervise your youngster if you are out riding in the dark . So , we think a light is not appropriate for a 70 .

Mr . BARNARD . Well , gentlemen , we thank you for your testimo ny . We thank you for your patience in waiting till the end . Of course eveybody can ' t be first . But it has been very helpful to have you here today , and we thank you very much .

Mr . GLYNN . Mr . Chairman , thank you . Mr . SCHMITT . Thank you , Mr . Chairman . Mr . HAGIE . Thank you , Mr . Chairman . Mr . WALSH . Thank you , Mr . Chairman . Mr . BARNARD . All right , sir .

( Whereupon , at 4 : 45 p . m . , the subcommittee adjourned , to recon vene subject to the call of the Chair . ]
