The Honda CB500 Four was a motorcycle introduced by Honda early in the 1970s, appearing at the London Racing and Sporting Motorcycle Show in February, 1972. It was similarly styled to the CB750, but smaller and lighter, with the manufacturer's claims of 50 bhp output and a top speed of 115 mph. Like the earlier CB750 it had a single front hydraulic disc brake, rear drum brake, electric starter, and sohc eight-valve engine. The four-into-four exhaust pipes echoed those of the CB750. Reviewing the 1972 show models, UK monthly magazine Motorcycle Mechanics described the CB500 as "one of the 'show stealers'. Four cylinders, in-line across the frame, four carburettors and single overhead camshaft motor, coupled to a five-speed gearbox give this 500 cc machine the performance of a 650 twin cylinder bike". It was deemed a better handling bike than the larger model, although it was still no featherweight at 201 kg (443 lb) (dry)

The Honda CB50 is a 50 cc (3.1 cu in), single-cylinder, four-stroke, SOHC street motorcycle manufactured by the Honda Motor Company, from 1971. Unlike the first CB 50 from 1967 with horizontal cylinder as the Honda SS 50, the CB 50 J had an almost vertical cylinder. The former CB 50 was 3.9 kW (5.3 hp) at 11,000 / min and was a small, fast moped. The top speed is 80 km / h. She was to get in the colors blue, green and orange. It was intended as a successor to the model along SS 50. The CB 50 J has a single-cylinder four-stroke engine , inclined at 20 degrees to the front cylinder. It usually has 6.25 horsepower and five-speed transmission in Germany but then only a moped version with 2 PS came out. Throttled it was, among other things by a throttle in the manifold, a 13er carburetor and an ignition timing, which shifted from 6000 revolutions towards "late".

The Honda SS50 is a 50 cc (3.1 cu in) moped. Predecessors were the OHV C110/C11/C114 and OHC S50. Produced from 1961 onwards, the Honda 50 Sport (type C110 and C111) variant of the Super Cub, laid out the basics of all future models: It had a pressed steel frame, hydraulic front/rear forks, a 49 cc (3.0 cu in) OHV four-stroke engine. The cylinder was laid horizontally to optimise cooling. The final drive was chain running in an enclosed chain case. The S50 featured an all-new OHC alloy head engine. The SS50 replaced these in the late 1960s, using a new T-shaped frame with separate rear mudguard, and telescopic front forks to replace the leading links.
